Springhouse Theatre Company is thrilled to invite you to audition for our upcoming production of The Sound of Music, directed by Kristian Rarig and featuring the artistic expertise of Music Director Lindsey Wortham and Choreographer Caitlin Del Casino, supported by our dedicated production staff.
The Sound of Music is a classic musical that follows the story of Maria, a spirited young woman who becomes a governess for the von Trapp family. As Maria brings music and joy into their lives, she forms a special bond with the widowed Captain von Trapp and his seven children. Set against the backdrop of pre-World War II Austria, the family navigates challenges together, finding strength and solace in their shared love for music. This timeless tale of love, family, and resilience is celebrated for its iconic songs and heartfelt storytelling.
How to Register for Auditions:
Complete our two-step registration process before the audition dates. Once you have completed both steps you will be officially registered for your audition. Failure to complete both steps may result in your audition slots being released.

Note: Auditions are open to performers age 6 and above. Unlike past Springhouse auditions, pre-registration using the provided link is required. Unregistered participants may not receive an audition slot on the day(s) of the audition.
When:
- Auditions Ages 6-17:
- Sunday, June 9th 5:00pm-8:30pm
- Auditions Ages 18+:
- Sunday, June 9th 8:00pm-9:30pm
- Monday, June 10th 6:30-9:30 pm
- Callbacks:
- Tuesday, June 11th 6:30-10:00pm
- Wednesday, June 12th 6:30-10:00pm

What to Prepare:
- Kids (Ages 6-17): Please prepare the song “Do Re Mi” using this Track: Do Re Mi and Sheet Music: Do Re Mi. Children under the age of 8 may have the option of singing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” instead using this Track: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and this Sheet Music: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
- Adults (Ages 18+): Please prepare a 1-minute song from or in the style of the show. Please come prepared with a track for your song. You may use a cell phone, tablet, etc for tracks; acapella singing is not allowed.
Audition Format:
During your audition time slot, you will present your prepared audition material and you will be taught a dance combination to perform as we are looking for a strong group of experienced dancers to be featured in this production. You will be required to be at your entire time slot so please pick one that works best with your schedule.
Attire: Come dressed to move.
- Ladies: Character shoes are preferred. Jazz shoes or flat tennis shoes (like Keds) are acceptable. Wear athletic clothing, and a rehearsal skirt would be a bonus.
- Gentlemen: Jazz shoes, dress shoes, flat-soled tennis shoes (like Vans), or boots (no cowboy boots) are suitable. Avoid chunky tennis shoes. Dress in athletic clothing; no jeans or non-stretchy attire.
- Kids: Please come dressed to dance with closed toed shoes (No Crocs).

Prepare your audition, familiarize yourself with the show, and arrive 20 minutes before your audition slot for check-in, getting settled, and stretching.
